Our Commitment to the Planet: Inside Our Recycling and Donation Process
Where Does Your Junk Actually Go?
When our truck drives away with your unwanted items, the journey is just beginning. Here's an inside look at our recycling and donation process.
Step 1: Collection and Sorting
After picking up your items, our team brings them to our local sorting facility. Every item is individually assessed and categorized. This is the most labor-intensive part of our process, but it's what allows us to achieve our 70%+ diversion rate.
Step 2: Donation
Items in good, usable condition are set aside for donation. We partner with organizations including Habitat for Humanity ReStore, Goodwill, local shelters, and community organizations. Furniture, clothing, working appliances, and household goods find new homes with people who need them.
Step 3: Recycling
Materials that can't be donated but can be recycled are sent to appropriate facilities. Metals go to scrap processors. Electronics go to certified e-waste recyclers. Wood is chipped for mulch or biomass. Cardboard and paper go to paper mills.
Step 4: Responsible Disposal
Only items that truly cannot be donated or recycled end up in a landfill. Even then, we use licensed, regulated facilities that meet all environmental standards. Hazardous materials are handled by certified hazmat disposal companies.
Our Impact
Last year alone, we diverted over 5,000 tons of material from landfills. That's equivalent to keeping 1,000 garbage trucks worth of waste out of the ground. Every pickup you schedule with us contributes to this impact.
